This photo series is about russian folklore traditions and how they exist in a modern city. This photo essay is also about unity, about being part of the community, about magic of russian fairy tales that all russians know from their childhood.
Today we live in big cities, there are millions of people around us, but in spite of that we feel ourselves quite often very disconnected from each other. During the year of working on this project I visited many folklore actions, celebrations and festivals, and was amazed about the fact that people are very united there.
At first blush you may think that people on this photographs are just dressed up in traditional clothes, but in the reality it's not like that. For most of them folklore is not only clothes, songs or dancing, but the way of life and traditional values.
